Middle and High School Students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) may participate in Valley Lutheran’s First Tech Challenge (FTC) Team, Crossfire. These students design, build, program, test and drive a robot in competitions against other FTC teams in local, regional and world competitions. Team Crossfire develops an Engineering Notebook, creates and updates a business plan, and works within a budget. Team Crossfire is dedicated to outreach and sharing STEM concepts with the community.

In 2015-16, Crossfire’s rookie year, the team was the State Champion winning alliance team. During the 2016-17 season, Team Crossfire was awarded two of the highest achievements from FIRST including the Motivate and the Inspire Awards. The Inspire Award is awarded to the team that best represents the core values of FIRST including “Coopertition and Gracious Professionalism.” Both years, Crossfire competed at the Super-Regional level and is hopeful that they advance to the World’s FTC Competition during the 2017-18 school year.
