Fine Arts

Valley Lutheran students have the opportunity to worship and praise God through vocal music, speech and theater, and the visual arts.

Music/Theater

All students in grades Kindergarten through 6th participate in vocal music classes and our 7th/8th graders as well as our High School students have the opportunity to participate in our award-winning music program which includes our High School Choir and Men’s and Women’s Ensembles.

Each year, our dedicated staff seeks to coordinate and direct an all-school musical as well as a fall play affording even the youngest Valley student the opportunity to be involved in the production. From acting and singing to set design, building, and stage management, all Valley students can find their place!

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts program is always a favorite with students. K-6th graders have Art twice a week. But for 7th graders on up to 12th grade, Art is an elective that gives these students the chance to have Art every day. Some highlights include the Short Film project for High School artists, which culminates in Valley’s own Short Film Festival and People’s Choice Awards. Valley artists have also received many awards in local, state, and national shows and contests, such as the Iowa Star Art Invitational and the National Conservation Poster Contest. The students’ favorite time of the year is the Fine Arts Fair where they get to display their favorite creations!

Speech

Valley Lutheran High School students can share a multitude of talents by participating in the Valley Lutheran Speech program. Speech team members can be involved in many different individual and team speech events including Mime, Short Film, News Broadcasting, Improv, One-Act plays, Dramatic Readings, Musical Theater, and many more. Valley’s Speech Team sends multiple groups and individual events to the state competition each year and three recent acts have performed at the All-State competition, a prestigious honor!
