Admissions: Join the Valley Family
We understand that the decision of where your child will spend so much of their childhood attending school is a vitally important decision. We invite you to visit Valley Lutheran School and ask questions so that you can capture for yourself a picture of the character and skills Valley strives day in and day out to instill into our students. Our prayer is that you will see the difference a Christ-centered, academically challenging education will have for your child. The steps to joining the Valley Family are layed out below.
Steps to Joining the Valley Family
Get the information you need to choose Valley by scheduling an Educational Success Consultation with a combination of our Administrative Team: Valley’s Executive Director, Mr. Henry Pahlkotter, our Kindergarten through 8th grade principal, Mr. Brian L’Heureux, and/or our High School Lead Teacher, Mr. Lucas Tanney.
With nearly 55 years of experience in Christian education, our Administration Team has a passion for seeing students reach their full potential through quality academics paired with a Biblical worldview. During your visit, you can share insight into your child’s strengths and abilities as well as areas of need, and learn how Valley can help you achieve your family’s academic goals for your student.
Your initial visit will conclude with a behind-the-scenes look of student life at Valley with our Director of Admissions, Mrs. April Schriever. We’ll take the opportunity to drop in on a few classes that are in session as well as chat with teachers and students along the way.
Call the school office at 319-266-4565 during business hours to set up your appointment. If it is outside of business hours, you may set up your appointment HERE.
Once you’ve communicated your desire to have your student join the Valley family, our team will then contact your child’s current school – even for incoming kindergartners – to determine further if your student will be a good fit for Valley. It may take up to two weeks for this step.
Once an offer is given to apply for admission, you’ll receive an email with a link to fill out two sets of online forms. A $100 registration fee is due once you complete the first set.
Whether in elementary, middle, or high school, your child will be wondering if Valley is a school where they can make friends, succeed in class, dive deeper into their faith, and have fun. Depending on their age, we’ll have them spend all or part of a day with us discovering the Valley difference so they can see for themselves!
Shadow visits are available for students in first grade through high school and are an opportunity to ensure compatibility between your student and our school. Your student will be invited for a shadow visit after your Educational Success Consultation. Shadow visits also serve as an opportunity for essential academic testing by our team to take place and our administration’s chance to communicate expectations to older students.
Kindergarten students have a few unique opportunities during the spring semester to explore “big kid” school including Kick Start to Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round-up.
You’ll receive a phone call to welcome your family to the Valley family. Your child is now on an academic and spiritual journey that God will use to shape your son or daughter into the person He has created them to be!
