In 1997, parents and church members in the Cedar Valley responded to surveys regarding their desire for a Lutheran High School. Based on parental and community concerns, Lutheran churches in the area organized the Eastern Iowa Lutheran High School Association to oversee the establishment of schools as needed. Over the years, this group raised funds in support of Valley Lutheran High School which opened in a satellite location in 2003 while construction began on the current Valley school building. In 2004, Valley Lutheran opened the doors to its first high school classes and the Valley Lutheran Middle School was added in 2006. In the fall of 2012, Valley Lutheran School expanded its mission to include elementary grades when asked to continue the legacy of Lutheran Elementary education when Immanuel Lutheran School closed that previous spring. This afforded families the opportunity to seek quality Christian education in one building for Kindergarten through 12th grade. For over 11 years, Valley was the only kindergarten – 12th grade Lutheran school in the State.
Valley Lutheran School, located in the heart of Cedar Falls, welcomes students from towns across the Cedar Valley. Valley enrolls students in grades Kindergarten through 12 from diverse Christian faith traditions who desire spiritual, academic, and co-curricular growth in a safe environment. Valley provides students with a well-rounded Christian education including a full curriculum of core courses, and college preparatory education. Valley Lutheran School motivates and challenges each student to grow and succeed. Families choose Valley as an alternative to public education, as we educate children, not only academically, spiritually, and emotionally, but also through the love of Jesus Christ.

Vision Statement
Valley Lutheran School, grounded in His truth and grace, prepares, trains, and teaches our students and families to serve and live for Christ.
Prepares: Valley equips His children with the truth as revealed in His Word. Ephesians 6:14-17
Trains: Valley equips His children to live out their faith and be strong witnesses for Christ in the world. Galatians 2:20
Teaches: Valley equips His children with academic excellence to fulfill God’s unique calling in their lives Proverbs 9:9
Now, as time has passed, Christ is still the center of Valley’s mission, but it is also important that we go out and share His love. This command given to us by God is illustrated in the new logo with the right side of the “V” reaching out. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
